FILIPINO THEATRE 3311
Tuesday & Thursday 4-5:50pm (Skits/Tech)
I. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVE: This course will prepacre students for production of the Pilipino American Student Association's 28th Annual Pilipino Cultrual Night. Students may be involved in any of the various aspects in the production of this event; these include acting, dancing, stage/tech crew and prop/set design and constuction. Students will be instilled with increased awareness and a refined understanding of the Philippine culture through active participation in the areas of acting and dancing, while acquiring knowledge of Philippine history as well. There is NO REQUIRED TEXT for this class.
A) PARTICIPATION: You must actively participate in rehearsals to recieve a grade for attendance. Attendance is MANDATORY in determining your grade. If you find that you will not be able to attend a rehearsal, please let us know ahead of time so we can accomodate. There are certain days each participant needs to set aside t osuccessfully fullfill the requirements of this course. These include days your rehearsal is scheduled and also the days of performance.
B) ATTENDANCE: Attendance and productive participation during the week of PCN is absolutely necessary in recieving a passing grade for this course. If you are a working student, please make arrangments to reserve the following days off:
*All Dress Rehearsals and performances will be held in the University Theatre
C) ASSIGNMENTS: For your first paper, you will be researching a topic of Filipino content you are interested in. YOu may write about an item of folklore, the origins of Filipino dance or dish, the life and contributions of Filipino her/heroine, etc.
FORMAT FOR PAPER TWO: 3 page research paper
a) You must submit a rough outline of the topic you want to cover in order to receive the coordinator's approval - your topic should be noted as the title of your outline
